Mental illness affects people from all walks of life, at every income level and at every age. In Canada, 1 in 5 of us will experience a mental illness during our lifetime; 1 in 8 of us will require hospitalization due to a mental illness. Not only does mental illness directly affect the individual, it also significantly influences the lives of family members, friends, employers and the general public.
